Black Friday 2026 Ad Plan: Timeline for Meta and Google Ads
Black Friday 2026 is on 27 November. Here is a week-by-week plan for Meta and Google Ads, from tracking checks to Cyber Monday.

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November, which leaves brands selling into the US, UK and Europe a little over three weeks to set up Meta and Google Ads properly. This plan lays out what to do each week, so the algorithms have data before the peak and your best offers are approved and live when buyers arrive.
The stakes are large. Adobe recorded US$11.8 billion in US online spend on Black Friday 2025, up 9.1% year on year, and US$14.25 billion on Cyber Monday, the biggest online shopping day Adobe has measured. Salesforce put global Cyber Week 2025 sales at US$336.6 billion, up 7%. Competition for the same buyers pushes auction prices up, so the brands that win are usually the ones that prepared early, not the ones that spent the most on the day.
The timeline at a glance
| Window | Meta Ads | Google Ads |
|---|---|---|
| 3-9 Nov | Fix Pixel and Conversions API, build creative, plan offers | Audit conversion tracking, clean Merchant Center feed |
| 10-16 Nov | Launch warm-up prospecting and lead capture | Raise budgets gradually on proven campaigns |
| 17-22 Nov | Load sale creative into ad sets that already have data | Submit Merchant Center promotions, prepare sale ad copy |
| 23-26 Nov | Early access offers to email and warm audiences | Schedule seasonality adjustment for 27-30 Nov |
| 27-30 Nov | Scale winners, watch frequency and stock | Watch budget pacing and impression share |
| 1-7 Dec | Retarget non-buyers, then wind down | Remove adjustments, review results |
Week of 3 November: fix tracking and lock the offer
Every bidding system you rely on during the sale learns from conversion data. If your Meta Pixel and Conversions API are double-counting purchases, or your Google Ads conversion action is firing on the wrong page, the algorithms will chase the wrong signal at the worst possible time. Place a test order, then confirm it shows once in Meta Events Manager, once in Google Ads and once in your store backend.
Decide the offer now. A clear, single offer (a flat percentage, a gift above a basket value, or a bundle) is easier to write ads for than a matrix of category discounts. For reference, Adobe saw Cyber Monday 2025 discounts peak at 31% for electronics, 28% for toys and 25% for apparel. Work out your break-even ROAS on the discounted margin before you set any targets; our guide to ROAS, CAC and break-even formulas walks through the maths.
On the Google side, check your Merchant Center feed for disapproved products, missing GTINs and price mismatches. A product that is disapproved on 26 November will not be fixed in time.
Week of 10 November: warm up, do not wait
Meta ad sets generally need about 50 optimisation events within seven days to leave the learning phase, according to Meta’s learning phase guidance. A brand-new ad set launched on Black Friday morning will spend most of the peak still learning. Start prospecting campaigns now at a moderate budget, and use this period to grow the audiences you will retarget later: site visitors, video viewers, and people who sign up for an early access list.
Lead capture is cheaper in mid-November than during sale week. An “early access” email or SMS list gives you a group you can sell to on Thanksgiving without paying peak auction prices.
On Google, increase budgets in steps on campaigns that are already converting. Google’s help centre says budget, target, creative and targeting edits do not trigger a learning status for Smart Bidding. Creating a new bid strategy, adding or removing campaigns from it, or changing the conversion goals does. So build any new structure now, not in sale week.
Week of 17 November: load the sale creative
Prepare sale creative in the formats you already use: static images, short vertical video and carousel. Put the offer and the end date in the first frame or first line. Add the new ads to ad sets that already have conversion history instead of creating fresh ad sets, because a new ad set starts its learning from zero. Our post on Meta Ads in 2026 and creative testing covers how to structure this.
Submit your Google Merchant Center promotions this week. Google says promotion review is usually completed within 24 hours of the start time and can take up to three days. Submitting by about 20 November gives you room to fix a rejection. Write the sale headlines and sitelinks for Search and Performance Max assets, and schedule them to start on the right date.
23-26 November: early access and the seasonality adjustment
Thanksgiving is Thursday 26 November. Send the early access offer to your list and warm audiences first; these buyers are the cheapest you will reach all week.
In Google Ads, schedule a seasonality adjustment covering 27-30 November. Google describes these as ideal for short events of 1-7 days and warns they may not work as well over periods longer than 14 days. They are available for Search, Shopping, Demand Gen and Display campaigns on Target ROAS or Target CPA, and for Performance Max on all bid strategies. Use one only if you expect conversion rates to change sharply, and set the uplift from what you actually saw last year, not a guess.
27-30 November: run the peak
- Budgets: check pacing several times a day. Campaigns that are “limited by budget” while hitting target ROAS are where extra money should go first.
- Meta changes: avoid large edits to ad sets that are performing, since big budget jumps and audience changes can push them back into learning. If you need more spend, raise budgets in measured steps or add budget to a campaign-level budget that is already stable.
- Stock: pause ads for products about to sell out. Paying for clicks to an out-of-stock page wastes peak budget.
- Mobile: 57.5% of US Cyber Monday 2025 online sales came from mobile devices, per Adobe. Test checkout on a phone each morning, and see our Shopify speed checklist if pages are slow.
Plan for Cyber Monday separately. It was larger than Black Friday in Adobe’s 2025 data, so do not burn the creative or the whole budget on Friday.
1-7 December: wind down and review
Retarget people who viewed products or added to cart during the sale, then return campaigns to normal budgets and targets. Remove the seasonality adjustment once the event ends. If tracking broke for any period, Google Ads offers data exclusions so that bad data does not train future bidding.
When you review results, compare total revenue and new customers against ad spend for the whole period, not just platform-reported ROAS for each day. Platform figures overlap, and a sale week inflates them further.
If you would like a second pair of eyes on your Black Friday setup, the performance marketing team at Squarebase is happy to review it.
Frequently asked questions
When is Black Friday 2026?
Black Friday 2026 is on Friday 27 November, the day after US Thanksgiving (26 November). Cyber Monday follows on 30 November.
When should I start Black Friday ads?
Start warm-up and prospecting campaigns two to three weeks before, around 10 November, so Meta and Google have conversion data before the peak. Sale creative can go live closer to the date.
Should I create new campaigns for Black Friday?
Avoid launching brand-new Meta ad sets on the day, because they start in the learning phase. Add sale ads to ad sets that already have data, and build any new Google bid strategies well before sale week.
Do I need a Google Ads seasonality adjustment for Black Friday?
Only if you expect a sharp change in conversion rate. Google recommends them for events of 1-7 days, which fits a 27-30 November window.
